President Obama's Cancellation Of White House Tours Being Met With Criticism From Congress

Barack Obama

Angered by $85 billion dollars in government budget cuts , U.S. President Barack Obama has cancelled all White House tours that were available to the public. This unnecessary move has upset citizens and congresspeople alike. House Speaker John Boehner branded Obama's move inappropriate stating, "The President is trying to make it tough on members of Congress. It's just sick."

In response to the President's decision on this matter, congressman Louie Gohmert has proposed legislation which would, "Prevent any public funds from being used 'to transport the President to or from a golf course until public tours of the White House resume. We will be able to get the Democrats and the Republicans across America ... to get their tour of the White and all it will cost is one or two golf trips less.'"

Looks like the president has a fight on his hands. The Judiciary Report is not in agreement with the president's decision. Why punish the American people over his fight with Congress. Punishing the people is not a good political platform. It will be perceived as the equivalent of a rattle-throwing tantrum over not getting one's way.

Obama And Congress Fighting Over Budget Cuts

Head of the Republican party, John Boehner and President Barack Obama

U.S. President Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats in Congress have been sparing with the Republican party on the issue of spending cuts, set to take place on March 1, 2013 if an adequate deal is not reached. President Obama and his party are against the spending cuts.

While the Republican party are in favor of it, due to the state of the economy. The newest U.S. economic report reveals jobs losses once again. Americans are also spending less, as people simply do not have the cash to spare. Budget cuts demanded by the Republicans would be helpful. So would the tax increases sought by the Democrats. Things are very uneven in Congress with no workable compromise in sight. Congress can do better than this.
