Judge Sides With Cheerleaders In Bible Banner Lawsuit

Student painting Christian banners for football games

A Texas judge has ruled cheerleaders are allowed to display banners with Bible verses at football games. Initially the school district barred the practice and was sued as a result of their decision. However, a ruling by State District Judge Steven Thomas has struck down the district's rule, granting students the ability to display the banners, as it is their constitutional right.

Judge rules for cheerleaders in Bible banner suit

8, 2013 | Updated: May 8, 2013 8:48pm - HOUSTON (AP) — A judge ruled Wednesday that cheerleaders at a Southeast Texas high school can display banners emblazoned with Bible verses at football games. But the ruling might not have settled the issue of whether the banners are protected free speech, according to an attorney for the cheerleaders' school district.

State District Judge Steven Thomas determined the Kountze High School cheerleaders' banners are constitutionally permissible. In the ruling, Thomas determined that no law "prohibits cheerleaders from using religious-themed banners at school sporting events."...

This is an abuse of soldiers' civil rights that is unconstitutional.

Could Christian Chaplains Be Silenced Under Pentagon Rules? Military Policy Bans Religious Proselytizing

April 30th, 2013 at 03:13 PM | - Religious liberty groups have grave concerns after they learned the Pentagon is vetting its guide on religious tolerance with a group that compared Christian evangelism to "rape" and advocated that military personnel who proselytize should be court martialed.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation is calling on the Air Force to enforce a regulation that they believe calls for the court martial of any service member caught proselytizing.

President Mikey Weinstein and others from his organization met privately with Pentagon officials on April 23. He said U.S. troops who proselytize are guilty of sedition and treason and should be punished – by the hundreds if necessary – to stave off what he called a "tidal wave of fundamentalists."...

Christians Are Being Persecuted And Killed In Nigeria

Nigeria

For the past couple years, Compendius has written about the persecution and killing of Christians in select parts of the world. As Christians we must all embrace each others' struggle and pray and proactively work to improve things for our brothers and sisters in the faith worldwide.

The terrorist group Boko Haram has been slaughtering Christians in Nigeria in big numbers, in conduct that must desist. Nigeria is half Christian and half Muslim. According to the Baptist Press, "The publicly reported Christian casualties in Nigeria last year were greater than the Christian casualties of Pakistan, Syria, Kenya and Egypt combined. In fact, Nigeria alone accounted for almost 70 percent of Christians killed globally. This makes Nigeria the most lethal country for Christians by a huge margin."

Duck Dynasty Cast Striking For Pay Increase

Jase, Si, Willie And Phil Robertson

Season four of the hit reality show "Duck Dynasty" is currently up in the air, as the cast is striking for a pay increase. The third season debut was viewed by over 8,500,000 people. The stars of the show, the Robertsons, want $200,000 per episode or they walk.

Considering there are over ten main family members featured on each episode, the money has to split between more leads than usual. As stated above, the show has brought in big ratings for A&E, resulting in great ad revenues. Therefore, they should pay the Robertsons more for giving the network their biggest hit ever. A&E please give the beards the bonus bucks. It's the best reality show on TV.

Ray Lewis Retires In Style As He And The Baltimore Ravens Take The Super Bowl

Ray Lewis

Christian football player Ray Lewis retired from the game of football in Louisiana on a high note, as a two time Super Bowl winning champion. Lewis and the Baltimore Ravens battled through a tough game against the outstanding San Francisco 49ers and came out on top. Congrats.

Many noticed Lewis' undershirt had "Psalms 91" on it, which began trending on Twitter and was featured on other websites. For some, Psalm 91 is a prayer of blessings, for others it's a prayer of protection. If I were standing on a field and the 49ers were charging towards me, I know I'd need all the "protecting" I could get (LOL).

I usually pray Psalm 91 for protection, especially the line "He (God) will give His angels charge over you" because in life, you never know what could happen. I admire men like Lewis, Tim Tebow and others, who are humble enough to give God thanks for their lives and stand up for the faith. God bless you guys.
