McCready, who enjoyed a string of hits over a decade ago, was distraught over the suicide death of the father of one of her children, David Wilson. Her downward spiral began due to drugs and alcohol, after very troubled teen years spent prostituting herself.

McCready became the subject of scandal when news of her affair with married baseball player, Roger Clemens, hit the press. She struggled for years as her career declined and fell deeper into substance abuse as a means of escaping the pain. Intensive rehab was in order, but it is something that was not in her plans.
